29th December 2009 - abandoned due to adverse weather conditions
'Downs Duel'
We had 16 players competing in 4 teams of 4. The final outcome being that Marlborough won 2 matches and Ogbourne won 2 matches. The respective Captains reviewed the scores of each match and because Ogbourne won more holes overall, it was decided that Ogbourne won the competition on countback.
So of the 2 annual competitions played to date, Marlborough and Ogbourne have won a competition each. At some stage we hope to have an actual trophy for the event which the winning team captain will 'cherish' for a year.

President's Trophy played at North Wilts Golf Club on 20th July 2009
The Texas scramble competition was played over 18 holes. 36 players competed in 9 teams of 4 and the weather was dry cloudy bright, with a strong westerly breeze.
Competition winners were:
- Nearest the pin (Ladies); Sue Wade
- Nearest the pin (Gents); Mike Allman
- Longest Drive (Ladies); Linda Martin
- Longest Drive (Gents); Cheever Hardwick
- The 3rd placed team (with a net score of 60.8) was Mike Allman, Philip Duncan, Neil Jordan and Gina Hamilton-Eddy
- The 2nd placed team (with a net score of 59.9) was Iain Cowan, Clive Glass, Sue Wade and Malcolm McFee
- The 1st placed team and winner of the 2009 President's Trophy (with a net score of 58.7) was Roger Henry, John Harrod, Gillian Leake and John Gunton.
The 2009 Ramsbury Trophy was played at Marlborough Golf Club on 4th May 2009
- 37 players participated in the individual stableford competition played over 18 holes
- Weather was overcast and generally dry with a strong wind from the south west
